As the demand for fertilizers grows, so does the need for safe, sustainable and efficient production methods. High-performance scrubber tubes are essential for recovering valuable materials from process gases. These advanced systems improve emission control, boost process efficiency and drive down costs.
Alleima stripper tubes are well known for their exceptional ability to resist high corrosion in aggressive environments and reduce lifecycle costs. They are mainly used in the Stamicarbon® process, a leading technology for producing urea fertilizer, a vital nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture.
Key challenges in fertilizer production:
- Corrosion: Exposure to highly corrosive substances like ammonium carbamate.
- Erosion: Caused by high-velocity fluids or particulates.
- Thermal stress: Due to fluctuating temperatures during operation.
- Scaling and fouling: Accumulation of deposits reducing efficiency.
- Mechanical Stress: Pressure fluctuations and vibrations.
Applications within the plant
- Ammonia scrubbing units: To remove ammonia from off-gases.
- Urea production: In sections where by-products are scrubbed from gas streams.
- CO₂ recovery units: To clean exhaust gases for reuse in the process.
Extend the lifetime of your plant
Through our longtime collaboration with Stamicarbon, we offer Safurex® – a highly corrosion-resistant tube material specially developed for the Stamicarbon urea process. Designed to withstand severe conditions in urea production strippers, Safurex® enables an oxygen-free process that increases both output and safety. This material has been shown to extend a plant’s lifecycle by up to 10 years or more, increasing the average lifespan from 20 years to over 30 years.
Other superior scrubber options
In addition, we offer Alleima® 2RE69, which is also excellent at resisting the severe corrosive conditions existing in the urea industry. The longest service life is so far 35 years, which confirms the optimal properties for the grade Alleima® 2RE69 in urea strippers.
Targeting organic acids
SAF™ 2507, a super-duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel, is specifically designed for corrosion by organic acids (formic and acetic acid). This grade offers excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-bearing environments and is strong against pitting and crevice corrosion.
Additionally, we offer bimetallic tube options and other grades, too, for various processes within fertilizer production.
