Nitric acid tubes

Tube, pipe, fittings and flanges

Risk reduction. It’s a key focus if you produce nitric acid for fertilizer, urea or other processes in harsh environments, such as those found in boilers. Susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), localized pitting and high temperature can lead to unsafe and costly unscheduled shutdowns.

To address these problems, Alleima provides materials specifically designed to “de-risk” your plant operations. Our range includes both austenitic and duplex stainless steels as well a bimetallic solution that combines high strength and extremely good corrosion resistance.

Common challenges

  • Stress corrosion cracking (SCCs) in harsh environment
  • Localized pitting in high-temperature, corrosive conditions

Main industries served

  • Fertilizer production
  • Urea synthesis
  • General chemical processing

Our grades for nitric acid service

Alleima grade UNS EN no.
Alleima® 2RE10 S31002 1.4335 Austenitic stainless steel with excellent resistance to corrosion in nitric acid
SAF™ 2906 S32906 - High-alloy duplex with excellent corrosion resistance in caustic environments and environments with chlorides.
SAF™ 2304 S32304 1.4362 High strength lean duplex with very good resistance to stress corrosion cracking
Alleima® 3R12 S30403 1.4306 1.4301 Austenitic stainless steel capable of handling nitric acid over a wide range of temperatures and concentrations

Formats and sizes

Our nitric acid tube portfolio includes both imperial and metric sizes, ranging from 12 mm to 40 mm (0.472 to 1.575 in.) in outside diameter. Custom sizes can also be manufactured upon request. Tubes are available in lengths of up to 30 meters or as U-bent configurations. For more information, please contact us.

Bimetallic tubes – affordable zironium performance

Corrosion in the re-boiling zone can reduce the efficiency of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Our bimetallic tube combines a zirconium (Alleima® Zr-702) inner liner, known for exceptional corrosion resistance, with an outer layer of Alleima® 2RE10 stainless steel, ensuring strength and weldability.

This design protects against corrosion while enabling the use of a stainless steel tube plate or re-tubing of stainless steel heat exchangers. Welding is simplified with stainless-to-stainless connections, eliminating the need for post-weld heat treatment.
